Radiator grille, air intakes and front splitter are typical features of the AMG GLA models.
At first glance, the Mercedes-AMG GLA is recognizable by its radiator grille, air intakes and front splitter. At the side, the light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design stand out, and from the rear the fastbacks give themselves away with the rear apron, the diffuser insert and the tear-off edge on the roof spoiler.
The stiffening measures on the bodyshell and the specific chassis modifications remain invisible.
Torque depending on driving situation
From the outside, you can only guess at the driving dynamics of the small SUV. On the road, however, you can feel it after the first few meters.
Even with the gentler engine, the 2-liter turbo engine with 400 Nm and 306 hp, the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and variable all-wheel drive deliver a stormy temperament. Depending on the driving situation, torque flows fully to the front axle or up to 50:50 to both axles.
Driving dynamics increases driving pleasure
With torques of 480 and 500 Nm and maximum outputs of 387 and even 421 hp, the newly developed 2-liter top-of-the-line engine takes off on all four wheels.
This makes it possible to achieve performance levels that were denied to super sports cars just a few years ago. The GLA 45 S version takes just 4.3 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill.
The manufacturer promises it, and initial test drives have shown it: Despite high boost pressure, the result is a spontaneous response and an almost linear torque buildup. This ensures superior driving dynamics and thus further increases driving pleasure.
Of course, powerful brakes and electronic stability control systems are available to ensure safety in any driving situation when the going gets tough.
With Ride Control adjustable damping, the driver can choose between three suspension settings. In addition, six driving programs from "Slippery" to "Race" are available on demand.
Leather upholstery as desired
The sports seats can be adjusted in many ways and offer good lateral support. The upholstery in black imitation leather with red contrast stitching and red seat belts is characteristic.
Four leather upholstery options are available. The instrument cluster can be changed between "classic" and "supersport," and telemetry data can be displayed on the touchscreen multimedia display.
Sports pedals with rubber studs evoke a motorsport look.
The GLA models cost from 69,700 (GLA 35), 78,900 (GLA 45) or 84,400 Swiss francs (GLA 45 S).
