McLaren: The new GT shows a lot of character 🎥

The GT is McLaren's current entry-level model and is designed in the tradition of classic Gran Turismo.

Ten years ago, McLaren made its first appearance in the supersport league with the MP4-12C. More than 2,000 cars later, the Brits no longer have to prove themselves, and each new model always brings its own character.

Classic pattern of a Gran Turismo
The GT follows the classic Gran Turismo pattern: light and dynamic, with an elegantly elongated shape and the necessary space for luggage.

The mid-engine construction results in the McLaren-typical design, with the cabin moved far forward and the so-called dihedral doors.

Carbon monocoque and aluminum bodywork
The GT is now the brand's entry-level model, but with a base price of 220,660 Swiss francs it is no bargain, nor is it otherwise a child of sadness. Carbon monocoque, aluminum body, adaptive dampers are just some of the specifications.

From 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds
The four-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 620 hp, which is quite docile when the gas pedal is pressed gently, but gives the 4.63-meter-long and 1.21-meter-thick two-seater wings when needed. When accelerating, the driver is pressed into the seat with the help of the Lauchcontrol.

The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h is reached after 9.0 seconds, and the top speed on the data sheet is 326 km/h. Cruiser or light-footed curve predator
The car also masters the character balancing act in terms of driving dynamics and offers real driving pleasure in different forms. On the one hand, it is a well-behaved cruiser, but on the other hand, it is a light-footed cornering predator that can be steered through the meandering passes of the foothills of the Alps with precise and easily controllable steering response.

Interesting functions at no extra charge
For weight reasons (1530 kilograms empty), McLaren does not fit every option as standard in the GT either. However, interesting functions can be ordered for comfort and everyday usability at no extra charge. For example, the suspension can be raised by two centimeters at the touch of a button, and the enhanced system from B&W provides even more perfect audio sound.

Enough storage space for the weekend trip
And if you want, access to the luggage compartment (420 liters) is made easier with an electrically operated glass tailgate; there's room for another 150 liters in the front, which adds up to 570 liters, providing enough luggage space for a weekend trip for two.
