Lexus: Strong performance of the current RX 🎥
DIABOLO BODY DESIGN The new Lexus RX presents itself with a longer hood, strikingly sculpted flanks and larger wheels, giving it a powerful impression. The coupé-like silhouette is also striking.
According to the brief, the designers were to give the new Lexus SUV a distinctive identity - with proportions that reflect driving dynamics.
The design had to convey performance and a corresponding driving experience in a directly recognizable way and also had to make the new model immediately recognizable as an RX. Either way, a strong appearance.
Three hybrid versions on offer
Three new electrified powertrains are available for the new edition of the RX. In addition to the two full hybrids RX 350h and RX 500h Performance, the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid is also on offer.
While the overall length of the new RX is roughly the same as the previous model, the A-pillars are now further back and the wheelbase has been increased by six millimeters. This creates the impression that the main weight is on the rear wheels. The rear fenders and 21-inch wheels hint at powerful traction.
Larger gauge
The next design stage can be seen at the front. The diabolo grille has been reinterpreted and is now seamlessly integrated. The arrangement of the slim headlights and the 50 millimeter increase in the front track width reinforce the impression of good roadholding.
At the rear, the black pillars continue to create the characteristic effect of the RX's seemingly floating roof. In addition, the slightly lowered roofline creates a coupe-like silhouette. The rear lights are integrated into a light strip that runs across the entire width of the car.
