New Defender tackles sand dunes of the Gulf region and the switchbacks of the Jebel Jais Highway.

The teams drove together with Land Rover engineers in test vehicles through the heat and desert sands of the United Arab Emirates. With this, the Defender test program is turning into the home stretch after more than 1.2 million test kilometers.

Disaster Risk Reduction Projects
Dubai is home to the global vehicle center of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The joint test program is part of the global partnership between Land Rover and IFRC. The British brand will continue to support the aid organization in its worldwide work over the next three years.
Plans include disaster preparedness and relief projects in countries such as India, Mexico and Australia. Land Rover's partnership with the Red Cross and Red Crescent goes back to 1954, when the humanitarian organization put a specially converted Series I Land Rover into service - it drove in the Gulf region as a mobile dispensary.

Operations in all countries of the world
Ilir Caushaj, Global Fleet and Logistics Team Leader at the IFRC: "Year after year, the Red Cross helps millions of people around the globe in crisis situations and disasters - we work in almost every country in the world. In doing so, we have to get to some hard-to-reach places and tackle rough terrain. Our teams simply have to cope with every conceivable circumstance."
With the IFRC experts' road tests, the development and testing program for the new Land Rover Defender has reached its final phase ahead of its soon-to-be world premiere.
