With the Defender Works V8, specially designed for the brand's anniversary, Land Rover is paying homage to earlier heavily powered variants of the legendary series produced over a period of 67 years. The 1979 Series III Stage 1 was also equipped with a V8 engine, as was the special Defender model launched in 1998 to mark Land Rover's 50th birthday.
Strongest and fastest of the Defender range
With the Defender Works V8, Land Rover now offers the lovers of the hearty classic nothing more and nothing less than the most powerful and fastest Defender of all time. A 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 gasoline engine has been implanted in the strikingly shaped engine compartment, delivering an impressive 405 hp of power from five liters of displacement and a maximum torque of 515 Nm to the road.
Eight-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode
The 70th special edition includes in addition to the 5.0-liter engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF with sport mode, an upgraded braking system, and a handling kit with modified springs, dampers, and stabilizers. Exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels in Sawtooth design with Diamond-Turned finish, fitted with 265/65 R18 all-terrain tires, round off the technology package of the anniversary Defender. Inside, the Defender Works V8 showcases Windsor leather upholstery on the dashboard and door panels, headliner and Recaro sport seats.
