Land Rover: Brits get on the plug
SUSTAINABLE Car manufacturer Land Rover is launching its compact premium SUVs Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport on the Swiss market as environmentally friendly plug-in hybrids. While CO2 emissions of the PHEV models start at 43 g/km, a purely electric range of up to 66 kilometers is possible with the plug-in variants of Evoque and Discovery Sport. Electrification [...]
While the CO2 emissions of the PHEV models start at 43 g/km, a purely electric range of up to 66 kilometers is possible with the plug-in variants of the Evoque and Discovery Sport.
Electrification and downsizing
As with the other variants of the two model series, the Evoque P300e and Discovery Sport P300e are based on the premium transverse architecture. It was designed from the outset to be combined with electric drives.
Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Technical Officer: "The engines come off the production line in our own factories. The Ingenium family is modular, scalable and flexible, which is why it allows us to be one of the first manufacturers to launch a plug-in hybrid system with three cylinders."
The combination of electrification, downsizing and weight reduction brings a lot of advantages - in terms of consumption as well as electric range and the possibility of emission-free driving in the city.
Three-cylinder gasoline engine with 200 hp
The new PHEV models are designed to impress with sustainable performance. A new 200 hp 1.5 liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and an 80 kW (109 hp) electric motor integrated into the rear axle work together in the system.
The e-drive gets its energy from a lithium-ion battery with 15 kWh capacity placed under the rear seats.
Fast charging at public pillars
Land Rover equips the Evoque P300e and Discovery Sport P300e with a Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable for connection to public AC charging points or at home to a 7-kW wallbox. This allows the battery to be charged from zero to 80 percent in one hour and 24 minutes.
Prices for the Range Rover Evoque P300e PHEV start at 59,600 francs and for the Land Rover Discovery Sport P300e PHEV from 57,500 francs.
