With the X-BOW GTX, KTM Sportcar GmbH shows where the journey of Austria's only automobile and Europe's largest motorcycle manufacturer is headed.

According to KTM board member and racer Hubert Trunkenpolz, there must be a development in motorsport towards a better power-to-weight ratio in order to be even faster with small-volume, more economical and more efficient engines. The findings derived from this must then also flow into series development.

Only two kilograms per hp
With a base weight of only around one ton and a peak output of 500 to 600 hp from the legendary Audi 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, the KTM X-BOW GTX will be a true benchmark in the lightweight sports car segment. The more powerful GT2 version boasts a power-to-weight ratio of less than 2.0 kilograms per hp.

In addition, the KTM X-BOW GTX also sets new standards in terms of safety. The Graz-based manufacturer is the first to combine a homologated monocoque with a homologated GT cage. In addition to the KISKA design team, Reiter Engineering GmbH, based in neighboring Bavaria, once again acted as development partner.

Only three GT2 manufacturers
The GTX can be used in all GT2 racing series - subject to final homologation by SRO. KTM will be the third manufacturer to offer such a vehicle, alongside Audi and Porsche.

With around 500 hp, the new KTM sports car should be eligible for the 24H Series, the GT Open, the DMV GTC or the Nürburgring Endurance Series (previously VLN). In addition, KTM is planning its own Cup with this vehicle from 2021.

Technical details and prices will be announced in the course of the next few weeks. The Swiss importer is SPORTEC AG in Höri.

The first race appearance of a KTM X-BOW GTX in GT2 version is expected to take place at an SRO event in the fall of 2020.
