Kia: Niro with extra wide tiger nose
FOLLOWER At the Seoul Mobility Show, Kia unveiled the next Niro. The new generation of the crossover is to be offered next year with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric drive as required.
The design is heavily influenced by the Habaniro study unveiled in 2019 and features wide, color-contrasting C-pillars that merge into boomerang-shaped taillights at the rear.
The further developed tiger front now extends below the hood across the entire width of the sweeping front bumper and is flanked by LED daytime running lights in the shape of a heartbeat curve.
Headliner made from recycled wallpaper material
In the interior, Kia relies on sustainable materials. The headliner, for example, is made of recycled wallpaper, and the seats are made of organic polyurethane with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves.
The asymmetrically designed dashboard integrates the infotainment screen and air vents with trapezoidal bezels.
Navigation instructions with historical driving data
The Koreans are not yet giving any concrete details about technology and equipment. Only this much: The plug-in hybrid and hybrid versions will have a Green Zone Drive Mode.
This can automatically switch the drive system to all-electric mode depending on the battery charge based on navigation instructions and historical driving data - for example, when driving through low emission zones in residential areas, near schools and hospitals, or at frequently accessed locations such as the driver's home or workplace.
