Kia: Plenty of space in the Sorento 🎥
PROGRESS The Sorento is the centerpiece of Kia's revitalized model range. And as usual, the Korean sets standards in terms of space, efficiency and quality. Prices start at 43,250 francs. In the cockpit, the designers have ensured more straight lines and more visual width.
At 4.80 meters, the outgoing generation was about ten centimeters longer than a Skoda Kodiaq, but the wheelbase of 2.78 meters was one centimeter shorter than that. In the new generation, the length grows by only one centimeter, but the wheelbase by 3.5 centimeters to now 2.81 meters.
The new design of the C-pillar also stands out in comparison. Here, a shark fin now protrudes into the windows from below. The previously curved metal crease in the lower area of the doors is now straight.
Paint finishes as desired
The rear end has a much more angular appearance than before. The lights are now oriented vertically, and there are slit-shaped air outlets below them that are also oriented more vertically.
In Europe, the new Sorento will be available with up to ten paint finishes and, depending on the model and optional equipment, with 17, 18, 19 and, for the first time, 20-inch alloy wheels.
Rotary knob replaces automatic lever
In the cockpit, too, the designers have created more straight lines and more visual width. This can be seen, for example, in the framing of the infotainment display in the center of the cockpit. A rotary knob replaces the automatic lever.
Remote unlocking for second row
The fourth model generation is based on a new platform. It is designed to improve the interior space. The luggage compartment volume is up to 910 liters for the five-seater Sorento and up to 821 liters for the seven-seater with the third row of seats folded in. If even more storage space is needed, the second row of seats can be folded down remotely from the luggage compartment.
Eight-speed dual-clutch transmission
The Sorento is still offered with a 2.2-liter diesel. With 200 hp and 440 Nm of torque, the new unit also has practically the same data as before.
Previously, six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions were offered as options. In the future, the Sorento Diesel will always be equipped with the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The new Kia Sorento is available as LX, Trend and Active. It is available from 43,250 Swiss francs.
