The Renegade for the 2019 model year can be quickly recognized by the revised headlights, the streamlined radiator grille in the typical brand design and the redesigned rear lights. Wheels are available in sizes from 16 to 19 inches.
Diesel or gasoline engines from 120 to 180 hp
On the drive side, the new Renegade offers both tried and tested and new features: the diesel engines with 1.6 and 2 liter displacement (120, 140 and 170 hp) have been exhaust gas decontaminated with an SCR system, while the two petrol engines with three and four cylinders and displacements of 1.0 and 1.3 liters deliver 120 and 150 or 180 hp respectively. The engine power is sent either to the front wheels only or to all four wheels via manual or automatic transmission.
Driving noise in the interior at a low level
On initial test drives, the front-wheel drive version with a four-cylinder petrol engine and 150 hp proved to be a powerfully motorized, surprisingly comfortable vehicle on country roads. Although there is still a slight turbo lag when accelerating, the 270 Nm provide plenty of torque. The driving noise remains at a low level in the interior, which has also been revised.
The Renegade shows no weaknesses off-road
And because the Renegade is supposed to be a genuine Jeep, despite numerous Fiat genes and production in Italy, it must not show any weaknesses off-road either. It proved this on first contact at the Fiat-Chrysler test site in Balocco near Turin. In the Trailhawk version, equipped with a 2-liter diesel engine and all-wheel drive system with off-road reduction, it masters the steepest passages uphill and downhill with ease. The prices are still open.
Grand Cherokee Trackhawk for the racetrack
While the facelift Renegade gently renews the family of small SUVs, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk at the upper end of the Jeep model scale also likes to thunder around the racetrack. With a respectful 875 Nm and an impressive 710 hp, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine thrashes the 2.5-ton vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is said to be 289 km/h. Any questions? The price is 139,000 Swiss francs.
