BMW plans to celebrate the European premiere of the new iX3 at the IAA Mobility 2021 (September 7-12, 2021) in Munich. Production is scheduled to start in September. Production will take place at the Chinese site in Shenyang of the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture both for the local market and for export.
Flatter headlights and adjusted apron
The front of the vehicle features a slightly larger kidney after the facelift, as well as headlights that are around ten millimeters flatter and an adapted apron. The rear has been given a more powerful surface design and striking, three-dimensionally modeled LED taillights. Model-specific accents in BMW i blue at the front and rear refer to the electric drive.
Enlargement of the screen to 12.3 inches
The iX3 demonstrates its sporty characteristics in the interior. The standard Live Cockpit Professional now includes a Control Display with an enlarged screen diagonal of 12.3 inches. The control panel on the center console for the gear selector, BMW Controller, start/stop button and driving experience switch and parking brake buttons has also been optimized.
Sports seats in the new Sensatec perforated upholstery variant and interior trim in the new dark aluminum Rhombicle finish are standard. The interior also features BMW i blue accents that identify the iX3 as an e-car.
Space-saving arrangement of the drive system
The Munich-based company has made no changes to the powertrain. Even at the model launch, the iX3 had a highly integrated drive system with electric motor, transmission and power electronics in a common housing, enabling a space-saving arrangement in the rear axle beam.
The maximum output of the electric drive is 210 kW (286 hp) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels, and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 6.8 seconds.
Fast charge for 100 kilometers in ten minutes
The high-voltage battery between the axles has a gross energy content of 80 kWh, of which 74 kWh is used. The Combined Charging Unit enables DC fast charging with an output of up to 150 kW. For every ten minutes at a fast charging station, the iX3 recharges power for a range of a good 100 kilometers.
The equipment includes Driving Assistant Professional with steering and lane guidance assist, cruise control with stop & go function, automatic Speed Limit Assist and route guidance. Parking Assistant including a rear-view camera and a reversing assistant are also standard.
