The engine accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds. It is now available for both the Civic sedan (from 29,500 Swiss francs) and the Civic five-door (from 21,500 Swiss francs). Initially equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a nine-speed automatic will follow soon.
New measurements show honest consumption values
The 1.6 i-DTEC is one of the first engines to be officially tested for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions under the new Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). According to the SWerks, the efficiency improvements for the new Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC result in fuel consumption starting at 3.7 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km (according to the WLTP cycle).
Honda's modified 1.6 i-DTEC is also one of the first engines to be officially tested using the RDE (meaning Real Driving Emissions) method for evaluating NOx and particulate emissions.
