Honda: Jazz remains a nippy runabout
PRESENTATION Honda offered a premiere of a special kind with the Swiss presentation of the new Jazz. At four Sunday brunches, the new model could be examined in detail after a hearty breakfast. Several hundred interested parties accepted the importer's invitation to the Juckerhof in Seegräben (ZH), Neuhof Schüüre in Laufen (BL), L'Aubier in Montezillon (NE) and Le Moulin de Cugy in Cugy (VD) and, after initial, often critical glances, quickly came to the conclusion that the four-metre-long four-door hatchback is an exciting proposition. Especially as it has now been given a visual makeover and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 130 hp. An easy-shifting six-speed gearbox comes as standard, with a continuously variable automatic gearbox available as an option.
Driving fun, especially on narrow country roads
The steering and brakes match the dynamic aspirations, and the lightweight Jazz is quite engaging on the country road. Driving pleasure is therefore guaranteed, at least if the driver shifts gears diligently and keeps the four-cylinder engine happy. The engine is a real barrel organ. The limiter only comes to an end at 7000 rpm. The Jazz is agile in the city and the clearly laid out body proves to be very helpful. Passengers are spoiled with an above-average amount of space in all three dimensions.
The trunk volume is almost up to 1314 liters
The Jazz thus remains a spacious vehicle even after the regular refresh. The clever seating concept allows the interior to be adapted to a wide variety of transportation tasks. The rear bench seats can either be folded forward as usual, creating a flat loading area and increasing the trunk capacity from 354 to 1314 liters.
Yucca palm or Ficus Benjaminus can be transported standing upright. The backrest of the front passenger seat can also be folded forwards or backwards. And only the Honda Jazz can offer this in its class.
The market launch of the new Honda Jazz in Switzerland begins this month. Prices start at 18,700 francs for the 1.3 i-VTEC Trend, while the Dynamic 1.5 i-VTEC is available from 23,900 francs.
