Honda: This is the Civic Type R in action 🎥
DOUBLE SUCCESS 50 years of the Civic and 25 years of the Civic Type R. To mark this double anniversary, Honda has developed the most spectacular Type R ever. The great driving fun can start at the beginning of 2023.
The new Honda Civic Type R is already setting standards. In Suzuka, it set a new lap record for front-wheel-drive production vehicles.
With new lightweight components, a further developed powertrain and aerodynamic optimizations, the new edition became the most dynamic Type R ever.
Slim silhouette of the Civic e:HEV
The new Type R was developed as part of the Ultimate Sports 2.0 model concept and builds on the sleek silhouette of the recently launched Civic e:HEV.
To emphasize the sporty look and improve handling characteristics, the Type R is now built even lower and wider. In addition, it is equipped with matte black 19-inch alloy wheels and tailor-made Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Design features that help improve aerodynamics are the large air outlets behind the front wheels and a larger rear diffuser. The new rear spoiler provides even more downforce. It has been tilted back to reduce drag. The new Type R is available in Championship White, Rally Red, Racing Blue, Crystal Black and Sonic Grey Pearl.
Lightweight sports seats for pilot and passenger
The driver now sits even lower than before and has a better view over the lower hood. The lightweight sports seats for driver and front passenger provide optimum support, but also ensure comfort on long journeys.
The driver can choose between Comfort, Sport and +R modes for each of six performance parameters. In addition, there is the new Individual mode. The Honda LogR performance data logger has been revised. It combines the collected performance data with a smartphone app so that the driver can monitor and record a wide range of measured values in real time.
Exhaust system is completely revised
The new model builds on the technology of its predecessor. The turbocharger now has a new housing and modified turbine and compressor blades to improve overall efficiency.
The revised exhaust system also contributes to the increased performance. The 6-speed manual transmission works with automatic rev matching and is controlled by a high-strength gear lever with an optimized shift pattern. Market launch of the new Honda Civic Type R is in early 2023. Prices have not yet been set.
