Golf: The number 8 rolls to the start 🎥

TRADITION AND PROGRESS The Golf 8 inherits a lot from its predecessor. The size (as far as possible), the space (pretty much) and all the performance levels. The Golf 8 comes with many innovations, but the genes of its successful predecessors are preserved.

The new model is more economical, a touch more direct, but more docile in tricky situations. The Golf 8 is clearly different from its predecessor, but is immediately recognizable as a typical Golf.

Diesel with twin dosing process
As a diesel, the revised two-liter four-cylinder engine debuts like all the other units, with 115 or 150 hp. Both use the twin-dosing process, which is intended to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 80 percent with dual Adblue injection. Two catalytic converters are on board.

The diesel engine hangs on to the Ga,s well, and if the manufacturer's values are right, a clear conscience goes along for the ride. The gasoline engines with 130 or 150 hp also offer pure driving pleasure.

A mild hybrid version with the type designation eTSI is making its debut. Its 48-volt electrical system supplies a starter generator and is thus intended to provide consumption benefits.

Golf 8
The Golf 8 with the 1.5-liter gasoline engine weighs exactly 1440 kilograms. That's 500 kilograms more than its forebear in 1974.

Many assistants as standard
Always on board are standard assistants for lane keeping and emergency braking, in addition to automatic climate control, keyless access and engine start, and the digital cockpit with various display configuration options.

Only the best for the bestseller
As has been the case for decades, the Golf is very well made, the materials are of high quality and the seats score a 6. Four adults can also travel comfortably in the back. The Wolfsburg company only uses the best for its bestseller.
