Geneva 2018: Comback for the Stratos

LEGEND The New Stratos - a reinterpretation of the Lancia Stratos - was first presented in 2010, at that time still as a study. Now the new version is to hit the road after all. Features of the original vehicle such as separate access to the engine through a hatch are taken from the prototype.

The New Stratos was developed by Michael Stoschek, Chairman of the Brose Group, and his son Maximilian. Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT) will manufacture and sell a maximum of 25 vehicles. Various options and variants will be available.

Downforce comes from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia
At the heart of the New Stato is the 4.3-liter V8 from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, whose chassis - shortened by 20 centimeters - has also been adopted. Thanks to modifications, the engine is said to produce around 540 hp. Torque is said to be 519 Newton meters. As on the original, the tanks are located in the center of the vehicle on the left and right and hold around 90 liters.

Factory car Rally Corsica 1974 as a model
The original Lancia Stratos HF styled by Bertone was uncompromisingly designed for rally use. The connection to Michael Stoschek is quite simple: the man from Coburg won the Carrera Panamericana in 1999, 2001 and 2004 and the European Rally Championship in 2006, in each case on a Porsche 911. Among the historic rally cars used by Michael Stoschek in rallies and hill climbs, the Lancia Stratos Group 4 occupies a special position. In more than ten years of work, the vehicle was rebuilt to the specification of the factory car "Rally Corsica 1974 Andruet/Biche" in Marlboro design.

The modern interpretation of the wedge-shaped coupe from the 1970s, which is said to be good for a top speed of 274 km/h, will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show (March 8-18, 2018 at Palexpo). What the 4.18-meter short wedge will cost is to be announced then.
