Genesis: This is how the G70 Shooting Brake drives 🎥

AND IT CONTINUES The Korean premium brand Genesis continues to step on the gas and now presents the G70 Shooting Brake, another model that will certainly bring movement into the station wagon class.

The G70 Shooting Brake from Genesis was developed specifically for the European market.

Genesis launched a five-model lineup on the European market in the summer. The GV80 SUV and G80 luxury sedan were later followed by the G70 sedan and SUV. Now comes the G70 Shooting Brake designed by design director Luc Donckerwolke.

With the latter, Genesis wants to take market share from the station wagon versions of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. With a length of 4.69 meters, a width of 1.85 meters, a height of 1.40 meters and a wheelbase of 2.84 meters, the Korean is right in their segment.

Front part with flat silhouette
Genesis aptly calls the styling "Athletic Elegance". In any case, Luc Donckerwolke (formerly of Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat, Audi) succeeded in creating an appealing and dynamic shape. The elongated hood with its self-assured front end is followed by a flat silhouette that ends with a rear end dominated by a massive roof spoiler.

Under the tailgate is the somewhat flat cargo area with sufficient dimensions for vacation luggage or various golf bags.

Self-igniter with 200 hp for frequent drivers
In terms of powertrains, the Genesis engineers stuck to proven technology and entrusted propulsion to a two-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 197 hp or 245 hp and a 2.2-liter turbo diesel that produces 200 hp.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels or all four wheels by an eight-speed automatic that shifts pleasantly in the background. The diesel engine is recommended for frequent drivers, if only because of its lower fuel consumption.

Sport exhaust and brakes from Brembo
In the more expensive versions, a camera scans the road and prepares the adaptive suspension for potholes or manhole covers. Although the G70 does not have air suspension, this works quite well. Overall, the G70's suspension is firm, but not uncomfortable.

If you want something crisper, choose the weight-optimized Sport variant with sports exhaust, Brembo brakes and a mechanical limited-slip differential that improves traction when accelerating out of corners.

Switches and trims made of real aluminum
The interior of the G70 impresses with precisely crafted materials. The sports trim with diamond-shaped red stitched leather seats and red seat belts is particularly impressive. Real aluminum switches and trim strips feel of higher quality than the painted plastic parts that are otherwise so often used.

The instruments with 3D effect are just as easy to read as the head-up display. When it comes to the operating concept, the engineers have found the right mix of touch functions and classic switches and buttons. No one has to get used to this for long.

The easy-to-use and over-the-air updating 10.25-inch infotainment system sits on the center console. It navigates with live traffic data, searches online for available parking spaces and provides fuel prices.

Trunk with up to 1535 liters of volume
The space ratios also fit. You sit sportily low and are well accommodated even as a long-legged driver. The generous trunk with a volume of up to 1535 liters cannot accommodate tall boxes, but the load floor only rises slightly when the backrest is folded down. Skis or snowboards can be accommodated without any problems. And the luggage needed for everyday business can be accommodated anyway.

All-round carefree package runs for five years
The prices (from 47,600 Swiss francs) include a five-year all-round carefree package that covers all scheduled maintenance work including a replacement vehicle. The Genesis is picked up and returned to the owner, and in addition, the "Genesis Personal Assistant" is always available as an advisor.

Piergiorgio Cecco, Regional Operations Manager Switzerland: "We consider our customers as guests and want to provide them with a stress-free driving experience."

Really soothing balm in a hectic time.
