The GT Heritage Edition was inspired by the original model's first endurance victory at the 1966 Daytona 24-hour race. The GT Studio Collection design package offers additional exclusivity.
The announcement of these two variants of the Ford GT was the highlight of Petersen Car Week 2020 on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Homage to first long-distance victory
Production of the Ford GT will end in 2022. Its Heritage Edition is not yet the Last Edition, but a tribute to the winners of the 1966 Daytona 24 Hour Continental, where Ford took the first 24-hour endurance victory in the company's history.
The GT40 MK IIs were driven by the driver pairings Bruce McLaren/Chris Amon, Dan Gurney/Jerry Grant and Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby. It was a successful season for Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby. Their car also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans a little later.
Forged light alloy wheels
Inspired by the white, black and red paint scheme of the 1966 Ford GT40 MK II race car, the Heritage Edition features white with carbon fiber surfaces and asymmetrical accents in red.
Ford graphics on the lower rear fascia and 20-inch forged Heritage alloy wheels paired with red-painted Brembo monoblock calipers complete the look.
Inside, the car features black Alcantara suede for the instrument panel and parts of the steering wheel, red anodized shift paddles behind the steering wheel and red performance seats in suede, among other features.
Cooperation with partner Multimatic
The Ford GT Studio Collection design package with customizable colors highlights key styling elements, including functional cooling ducts that help the Ford GT (model year 2021) deliver its 660 horsepower to the track in all situations.
The design package was created as part of a collaboration between Ford Performance and Ford GT manufacturer Multimatic.
Electric drive and original sound
For the youngest of performance lovers, McLaren now has a model to match, the McLaren Senna Ride-On. McLaren's GP driver Lando Norris managed to squeeze into the car for a test drive. He was reportedly pleased with the electric drive and the MaLaren sound from the speaker.
Da car costs 375 pounds (about 500 francs) in England and can be ordered immediately.
