Ford: First photos of the next Ranger 🎥
Pickup truck fans around the world are listening up, because Ford is presenting the new Ranger. The latest generation of the successful series will be launched in over 180 countries, including Switzerland, from 2022.
Ford has adapted its 6-cylinder turbodiesel for use in the new Ranger.
The popular pick-up, which will also form the basis for the VW Amarok in the future, stands out visually from the current model primarily due to its very American-looking front.
Propulsion is provided by a choice of four- or six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines with a displacement of up to three liters, manual six-speed or ten-speed automatic transmissions, and electronically selectable or permanent all-wheel drive.

Angle of slope and increases directional stability
The next model generation has five centimeters more wheelbase and a track that is also five centimeters wider thanks to the front axle being moved correspondingly far forward. This increases the angle of slope and improves directional stability off-road.
The flatbed has also grown by the same width and is easier to access via two steps integrated into the rear bumper. There is also a flexible load management system with eyelets and partitions.
Soft touch material as in passenger cars
The upgraded interior hardly differs from that of a passenger car and relies on high-quality soft-touch materials. Numerous compartments and stowage areas ensure order on board.
The generously dimensioned box between the front seats offers plenty of space for utensils, and the door trim compartments also hold significantly more than usual. There are also additional compartments under and behind the rear seats and a further glove compartment on the dashboard. There is a wireless inductive charging station for suitable smartphones.
The new Ranger will roll off the production line from spring 2022 at Ford's plant in Thailand and - for the versions sold in Europe and elsewhere - in South Africa. Further production sites in other countries, technical details, market launch dates and selling prices will be announced at a later date.
