The body color "Tau Green" is reserved for the 500 Hybrid as well as the Panda Hybrid.
A newly developed three-cylinder engine with a displacement of one liter and a twelve-volt belt starter-generator replace the previous 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine to reduce average fuel consumption and meet fleet limits.
For the start there is a "Launch Edition
To celebrate the event, Fiat is initially presenting its small hybrids in a "Launch Edition". The exclusive "Tau Green" body color with a slight hint of metallic gray looks particularly good on the Panda Hybrid in its upbeat cross design.
Apart from the badge on the B-pillar, the seat covers also indicate the first edition. They are made of recycled plastic with ten percent plastic waste from the sea.
Fresh design of the interior
Not much has changed in the interior. The interior design of the Panda still looks fresh and above all refreshingly different. This applies not only to the otherwise largely disappeared open tray on the passenger side, but also to the framing of the control buttons and displays. The mighty handle for the handbrake stands out.
Anyone who doesn't know any better would hardly think that the third-generation Panda is now eight years old.
One hp more power than the predecessor
The six-speed gearshift is easy to operate. The steering wheel feels grippy in the hand, as usual from Fiat. The small, slightly hummable engine has 70 hp and thus one hp more than the predecessor with four cylinders. It takes up the throttle willingly in the lower gears and revs up lively.
On inclines, the small three-cylinder engine demands high revs and low gears. The sixth gear with its very long ratio is clearly designed as a slow gear.
Support from the starter generator
As soon as the foot is taken off the gas, a battery symbol that lights up in the tachometer signals recuperation. With the additional energy generated in this way, the belt starter-generator can support the small three-cylinder engine with up to just under 5 hp (3.6 kW) when starting off and accelerating.
The small hybrid system shows its strengths especially in city traffic. Here, the car can be driven toward the traffic lights in sailing mode and the pleasingly quick stop-start system can be used more often.
