Fiat: The Italian Spider is back!
Everyone knows that the Fiat 124 Spider is a technical twin of the Mazda MX-5. In the automotive industry, synergies are extremely important as they allow money to be spent more efficiently. With the 124 Spider/MX-5 duo, both brands worked together in the best possible way to provide fans with two real highlights. Although the technology is almost identical in both models, [...]
Although the technology is almost identical in both models, there is no naturally aspirated engine under the hood of the Fiat, but a 1.4-liter turbo with 140 hp and enough power for a top speed of 215 km/h. Thanks to turbocharging, the small four-cylinder engine is able to put 240 Nm on the road. Compared to the Mazda, however, the Fiat 124 Spider is the more comfortable choice. Instead of razor-sharp reactions, there is lighter steering and a softer chassis. The only criticism of the new car is the gearbox, which has excessively long shift travel.
If you want something a little racier, you should opt for the 124 Spider from Abarth. The 1.4-liter engine then delivers 170 hp and the two-seater can even reach speeds of 232 km/h. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 in 6.8 seconds. It also has a sound that alone is worth half the extra price. Despite shorter gearshift travel, more power and faster reactions, the balance does not fall by the wayside - pure Abarth. If you want to experience it: hands off the automatic gearbox. You'll have to wait until September for the Abarth and set your budget at around 43,000 francs.
