Investment of 50 million euros
The Battery Hub will also include rooms for training courses, as well as facilities for prototyping and testing.
In addition, the Battery Hub, projected with an initial investment of 50 million euros, offers a modern center for quality control and component testing equipped by leading companies in the field. Batteries, for example, are electronically tested for efficiency after assembly.
Production of 80 000 vehicles
The electrically powered model variant of the Fiat 500 will be produced from the second quarter of 2020. Around 1,200 employees will work in this area alone. Production of 80,000 vehicles per year is planned at the start.
The Mirafiori plant will also produce the all-electric versions of Maserati's Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio models, the brand's first electrified vehicles.
