Nissan X-Trail 2017
A revised front, more space and fat sound: the Nissan X-Trail now offers more.

With its main target group of "adventurous families," the X-Trail is not only the world's best-selling SUV with 766,000 vehicles sold in 2016, but also the brand's best-selling vehicle worldwide. And customers are particularly satisfied: In Reevoo's independent customer ratings, the Nissan crossover scores an outstanding 8.9 out of a possible 10 points.

As with the Qashqai, the X-Trail's new features are the result of feedback from customers. New on the outside is the front end with the redesigned front bumper, which is predominantly painted in body color. Visual changes include daytime running lights, fog lights standard on Acenta and higher, halogen headlights (standard on Visia, Acenta) and full LED lights (standard on top Tekna trim). The LED headlights are also now offered as an adaptive lighting system. A dynamic cornering light function depending on speed and steering angle provide better illumination. The visual modifications have increased the X-Trail's length by 50 mm.

Better insight
The new steering wheel with new control buttons is flattened at the bottom and makes it easier to get in and out. Because the steering wheel cup is smaller and the three spokes narrower than before, the driver has a clear view of the instruments. The wider steering wheel rim has a new integrated heating function as standard in the Tekna trim. Also standard in the top version are heated seats, including for the second-row seats, and more strongly contoured leather upholstery. New or upgraded details ensure an overall higher quality feel in the interior.

Sensor controlled tailgate
In the highest Tekna equipment line, the X-Trail previously had an electrically operated tailgate. New: If you don't have your hands free, you can now simply hold your foot centrally under the rear bumper to trigger the automatic opening system. In the five-seater X-Trail, trunk capacity has increased from 550 to 565 liters, while in the seven-seater it remains unchanged at 445 liters. Folding down the rear seats increases the load volume to up to 1996 liters.

New Bose premium audio system
The surveys also revealed a desire for a high-end audio system. While all variants of the X-Trail will allow digital radio reception as standard in the future, the crossover is equipped with an audio system from Bose in the top trim. The system includes eight speakers and a Bose eight-channel digital amplifier. The audio system has been specially tuned for the X-Trail. The touchscreen layout for the navigation system (standard for Tekna, optional for Acenta) has also been revised, with a new app appearance for easier operation.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility: The X-Trail will drive autonomously in the future
With the Propilot system, Nissan is taking the first major step toward autonomous driving. Available from 2018, Propilot takes control of steering, acceleration and braking in single-lane highway traffic, in queue traffic and in traffic jams. The system includes Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Pilot functions. Information on the status of the system is displayed between the round instruments.

Even safer
Another Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology is the Cross-Traffic Alert, which reduces the risk of collisions when reversing out of a parking space or exit. Intelligent Emergency Brake Assist now also detects pedestrians. The previous five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety program also applies to the new model.

Under the hood everything as usual
The range of powertrains remains untouched. In addition to the 2.0-liter dCi diesel engine with 130 kW/177 hp introduced just last winter, a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 96 kW/130 hp and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 120 kW/163 hp are available. While the gasoline engine always comes with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive, a continuously variable Xtronic automatic transmission and/or all-wheel drive are also optionally available for the diesel engines.

The new Nissan X-Trail will be available in Switzerland from September 2017 at a price starting at 28,290 Swiss francs.
