All engines of the new DS 4 will be supplied exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

From its sister models in the newly formed Stellantis Group, the Citroën C4 and the forthcoming Opel Astra, the French car aims to stand out above all in terms of comfort and extravagant design.

DS 4
Wings connect the headlights of the DS 4 with the radiator grille. A truly impressive appearance.

Coupé and traditional compact sedan
The DS 4 is 4.40 meters long and 1.83 meters wide. Its height is 1.47 meters. Up to 20-inch rims are available on request.

The trunk is 430 liters in normal condition, and an electrically operated opening tailgate can be added as an option.

Cross, Performance Line and La Premiere
The DS 4 is being launched on the market in a total of three visually different versions: In addition to the classic DS 4, the model series is being supplemented by the DS 4 Cross, the DS 4 Performance Line and the special edition La Premiere.

The DS 4 Cross is based on an SUV design and stands out from the classic version with black side window frames, a black radiator grille and striking wheels. It can also be equipped with Advanced Traction Control: At the touch of a button, the ESP can be modified to give the compact car better grip on sand, snow and mud. However, the DS 4 does not get all-wheel drive.

Family resemblance with the DS 3 Crossback
Visually, the DS 4 bears some family resemblance to the smaller DS 3 Crossback. The front of the DS 4 is characterized by a new light signature with LED matrix headlights. They are accompanied by large daytime running lights consisting of a total of 98 LEDs.

So-called DS Wings connect the headlights with the radiator grille. As in the DS 3 Crossback, there are retractable door handles.

Equipment with diamond elements in the interior
As in the DS 3 Crossback, diamond elements dominate the look of the interior. The center console structure houses the new air conditioning system and the so-called DS Air controls, which make the center air vents invisible. The controls for the power windows are aligned with the side air vents and integrated into the doors.

The interior of the DS 4 offers various types of leather, Alcantara, carbon, wood and new processing techniques, depending on the equipment. In the two-tone interior, the seats with embossed leather in Galet Grey are accompanied by light, grippy elements for the comfort zones, which are covered in grained leather.

Plug-in hybrid drive of the next generation
The new platform was created to accommodate a next-generation plug-in hybrid powertrain. A turbocharged four-cylinder with 133 kW (180 hp, 300 Nm) is combined with an electric motor with 81 kW (110 hp, 320 Nm), resulting in a total output of 165 kW (225 hp) and system torque of 360 Nm. A range of more than 50 kilometers is possible in emission-free mode.

In addition, conventional PureTech gasoline engines with 130, 180 and 225 hp and a BlueHDi diesel version with 130 hp are on offer. Unusually, all engines are supplied exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

First step towards augmented reality
A head-up display with extended peripherals offers a first step toward augmented reality. A new technology projects essential driving information directly onto the road.

Another highlight is the so-called Active Scan Suspension. A camera located at the top of the windshield sees road irregularities and transmits the data to a computer.

An infrared camera in the DS 4, located in the radiator grille, detects pedestrians and animals at a distance of up to 200 meters, even at night and in poor light. Dangers appear as a warning in the head-up display.
