English-born Wayne Griffiths has been appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The manager, who is successful not only with the Audi, Volkswagen, Seat and now Cupra brands, takes on the new position in addition to his post as Seat Board Member for Sales and Marketing and as CEO of the Cupra performance brand. So Wayne Griffiths has everything firmly under control.

Cupra
Wayne Griffiths has led the Cupra brand to international success in a very short time.

Particularly sporty equipment
To mark his debut in his new job, the man at the helm and his team also presented two new models: the Cupra Leon as a five-door model and as a sports tourer. With sports bucket seats, sports suspension, keyless entry, ambient lighting and full LED taillights designed as a continuous strip of light, the Cupra Leon is also to be offered in Switzerland at attractive prices, which have not yet been determined.

Axel Andorff, Board Member for Research and Development: "By adding a high-performance hybrid to the engine variants, we are underlining our efforts to drive forward the electrification of the high-performance segment. The Leon will be offered as a gasoline engine (TSI) and as a plug-in hybrid (eHybrid)."

Real-time driver input
With the 4Drive all-wheel drive system used in the Sportstourer, the vehicle constantly analyzes driver inputs in real time to transmit the optimum drive force to the individual wheels at all times. This enables the Sportstourer to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in under five seconds and on to its limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Everyday vehicle and a lot of breed
Drivers can choose from four different driving profiles to adjust the dynamics of the Cupra Leon to their personal preferences: Comfort, Sport, Cupra and Individual. These profiles directly influence the character of the vehicle: In the blink of an eye, the Leon transforms from an unexciting everyday vehicle into a thoroughbred sports car. Eye-catching features include the continuous coast-to-coast light strip at the rear of the Leon, the two- or four-pipe exhaust system - depending on the engine - and the diffuser and discreet spoiler.

Leaning on motorsport
The elegant and sporty design language of the interior also reflects the sporty character of the vehicle. As soon as the driver takes a seat in the sports bucket seat and grips the steering wheel with engine start button and selector switch for Cupra mode, the digital cockpit catches the eye, underscoring the character of a thoroughbred sports car with genes from motorsport.

Fewer buttons and switches
The large 10-inch infotainment system simplifies operation of the Leon and shifts quite a few controls to the touchscreen. The resulting reduction in the number of buttons and switches emphasizes the tidy and modern look of the interior.

Throughout the cockpit, elements of copper and dark chrome provide sporty, elegant accents. The ambience of the interior is additionally defined by the seating options selected by the customer.

State of the art lighting concept
The design and engineering teams have used state-of-the-art lighting systems to create dynamic styling that showcases the car's distinct character. The sophisticated lighting concept also benefits safety.

As standard, the Spaniard is equipped with full-LED headlights that brightly illuminate even the darkest roads, ensuring greater visibility and safety. The exterior mirrors project the CUPRA lettering clearly onto the floor when the vehicle is unlocked. In addition, LED turn signals are integrated in the mirrors.

Francesca Sangalli, Color & Trim Concept & Strategy design team: "The design of the new Leon is underlined in particular by the striking continuous LED light strip at the rear. It not only increases visibility for other road users, but also gives the Leon an unmistakable light signature."

Important driving information
The Digital Cockpit can be customized according to the driver's needs. It places important driving information such as engine speed, torque, power, boost pressure and acceleration values at the center of the fully digital cockpit.

Emergency assistant always on standby
One of the biggest advances is the introduction of the emergency assistant: It ensures that the driver focuses his attention on the traffic situation and is not distracted by visual and acoustic warnings. If the driver does not react, the system prompts him to take over the steering by applying the brakes several times. If the driver still does not react, the vehicle is finally braked completely and the hazard warning lights are switched on.

The reception room at Cupra's headquarters looks almost like a spacious living room.

Opening for the second birthday
And because everything fits so well, the inauguration of the new company headquarters, the "Cupra Garage," in Martorell near Barcelona was celebrated just in time for the Cupra brand's second birthday. The headquarters is a 2400-square-meter building designed in an environmentally friendly manner with design cues from motorsports. Cupra has invested around 5.3 million euros in the building, which will accommodate 200 employees in the future.

And space for the presentation of new models and meetings of the Cupra boss.
