Cupra: Update for the sports car brothers 🎥

NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE Cupra presented the new Formentor and the new Leon as a major world premiere in Madrid. The revised and improved sporty models are now set to continue the brand's success story.

The new Cupra Formentor crossover SUV builds on the great success it has already achieved. The brand's first independent model has now become the bestseller in the house. In a highly competitive market, it topped the sales charts last year with 120,100 deliveries worldwide, underpinning its strong performance in recent years.

The world premiere of the revised Formentor and Leon models also focuses on the relevance of design for the brand.

Successful newcomer

The new Leon once again demonstrates its strong character as a five-door hatchback and sports tourer variant. Cupra delivered 56,600 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024, and March was even a new record month for the brand with 23,800 deliveries. "The Formentor and the Leon have both contributed significantly to the brand's success. With almost 600,000 vehicles delivered since its launch in 2018, the Challenger brand has been incredibly successful," says Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra.

Sportiness at every turn

The aggressive look of the Sharknose front end is defined by the triangular Matrix LED lights and the wide lower cut-out. The same lighting design also serves as a frame for the illuminated Cupra logo at the rear. A new, improved Human Machine Interface is implemented in the digital cockpit behind the steering wheel and in the 12.9-inch infotainment system. Both vehicles feature a new high-fidelity audio sound system with twelve loudspeakers, which was developed in collaboration with Sennheiser Mobility.

Four drive concepts

Formentor and Leon come with a range of powertrains, as TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid), TDI (diesel) and e-Hybrid (plug-in hybrid). The new generation of the plug-in hybrid delivers 200 kW (272 PS), offers an electric range of more than 100 kilometers and is now also compatible with fast charging up to 50 kW. A new version with a petrol engine is also available exclusively for both models, which delivers 333 hp and is equipped with torque splitter technology and Akebono brakes.
