Bowler, British specialist in off-road performance and rally raid vehicles, has received permission from Land Rover to use the old body style of the 4×4 classic.
Off-road vehicle based on the legendary 110
Under the project name CSP 575, Bowler plans to create a family-size, high-performance off-roader with the look of the legendary Defender 110, equipped with Jaguar Land Rover's 575-horsepower supercharged V8 engine.
In addition to the domestic market, the car will also be offered in selected European and overseas markets. The price is expected to be around 200,000 pounds (around 237,000 Swiss francs). The first vehicles are to be delivered next year.
High performance model for road use
It is a high-performance model for road use. It brings together Bowler's proven high-strength steel CSP chassis with aluminum body panels in the design of the classic Defender 110 Station Wagon and Land Rover's 5.0-liter supercharged V8.
Acquisition by Special Vehicle Operations
The development project, initiated with licensing by Land Rover, paves the way for a family of high-performance models that Bowler will develop in the near future.
Bowler was acquired by Jaguar Land Rover last year and incorporated into the Special Vehicle Operations division.
In the past, the company, founded in 1985, had prepared the Defender 90 and sold it to private drivers for the Dakar Rally. In 2014, the "Defender Challenge" racing series was also launched together with Land Rover.
Founded in 1985, Bowler Motors is one of the pioneers in the UK for the development and production of off-road competition vehicles.
