BMW X3 and 1 Series: Two top sellers in a new look
The design is clearly different, but both models remain true to each other in terms of drive systems and virtues: at BMW, the popular X3 SUV and the compact 1 Series are entering a new generation.

For over 20 years, the X3 and the 1 Series have been among the top sellers in the BMW model range. The mid-size SUV X3 has sold over 3.5 million units since its launch in 2003, while the compact 1 Series, which was launched in 2004, has attracted over three million customers to date. Now both are entering a new model generation - with a new design language, revised interior, new features and refined handling.

The curved display, already familiar from other BMW models, both now have a cockpit consisting of a large screen behind the steering wheel and a screen above the center console. Both models run the latest version of the infotainment system (OS 9). An absolute eye-catcher in the X3 are the new lighting elements in the center console and in the door panels: These wide LED strips give the term ambient lighting a completely new definition.

The new X3 has grown in comparison to its predecessor and to provide even more space for families: 3.4 centimetres longer and 2.9 centimetres wider, but 2.5 centimetres lower - this makes for sportier proportions. The space is correspondingly generous, and the trunk is also very spacious at 570 to 1700 liters. The drive range includes two mild hybrid combustion engines (petrol and diesel with 153 kW/208 hp and 145 kW/197 hp respectively), a plug-in hybrid (220 kW/299 hp) and the top model with a three-liter inline six-cylinder petrol engine (293 kW/398 hp). All are equipped with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The brand-new BMW X3 will be available from November 2024 at prices starting from CHF 67,800.

The 1 Series also got bigger, At 4.36 meters, it is now 4.2 centimeters longer than before. Three or four-cylinder engines (petrol or diesel) are again available in a very wide range from 115 kW (156 hp) up to 221 kW (300 hp; 4.9 s to 100 km/h). The new 1 Series is now available from Swiss BMW dealers at prices starting from CHF 41,100.
