The ix models will be available at dealers from the end of the year at prices starting at 99,900 (xDrive40) and 114,900 Swiss francs (xDrive50).

Thanks to an electric drive system with more than 240 kW (300 hp), the iX xDrive40 accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in little more than six seconds. The iX xDrive50 develops a total output of more than 370 kW (500 hp) with one motor each on the front and rear axles.

The BMW iX xDrive50 makes acceleration from 0 to 100 possible in less than five seconds.

Ranges between 400 and 600 kilometers
Battery packs with more than 70 and more than 100 kWh allow ranges of over 400 and over 600 kilometers respectively. The power storage units can be charged at fast-charging stations with up to 150 (xDrive40) and 200 kW (xDrive50).

This means that energy for a further 120 kilometers can be fed in within ten minutes. In both models, the battery is recharged from ten to 80 percent in less than 40 minutes.

Inside tanned leather with olive leaf extract
The cobalt and lithium required for the batteries is procured from sources controlled by BMW in Australia and Morocco and supplied to the battery cell manufacturers. 100 percent green electricity is used for the manufacture of the cells as well as for production at the Dingolfing plant.

In addition, since February the company has been sourcing aluminum, the production of which uses electricity from solar plants. Wood, leather tanned with olive leaf extract and other natural materials are used in the interior.

Constant power delivery and torque
The electric motors of the BMW iX are current-excited synchronous machines, which means they do not require rare earths. Another special feature of these motors is that torque can be maintained over a very wide speed range. This results in an exceptionally constant power delivery.
