BMW: Power performance with the M8 đ„
POWER IS EVERYTHING With the M8 Coupé and the M8 Competition Coupé as well as the M8 Cabriolet and the M8 Competition Cabriolet, BMW M presents four new model variants at the top of the range for true connoisseurs. The Competition Coupé sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds (Cabriolet 3.3 seconds).
At the same time, the Bavarians are setting a new mark in performance: between 600 and 625 hp (Competition) is developed by the twin-turbocharged V8 high-rev engine, whose 750 Newton meters of torque are transmitted via an eight-speed M-Steptronic transmission and X-Drive all-wheel drive.
According to BMW M, the experience gained during the development of the BMW M8 GTE race car was also incorporated into the tuning process on various race tracks.
Damper with electronic control
Standard equipment includes an M-specific adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers and M-Servotronic electromechanical steering. The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system is networked with both the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and the Active Differential and offers the M Dynamic mode.
Carbon ceramic brake to choose from
As an alternative to the standard M compound brake system, an optional M carbon ceramic brake is available for the M8. In conjunction with both variants, the M-specific design of an integrated braking system is used for the first time. It combines the brake actuation, brake boosting and brake control functions in a single compact module. The characteristic curve of the pressure point can be changed if required.
Intercooling and direct injection
The M-Twinpower turbo technology of the 4.4-liter engine comprises two turbochargers arranged in the V-space between the cylinder banks with optimized efficiency and indirect intercooling, and a direct injection system that operates at a maximum pressure of 350 bar. The cross-cylinder bank exhaust manifolds are a further technological highlight. The Coupé and Cabrio accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 and 3.4 seconds respectively.
