What previously existed as an EV study under the name BMW Vision iNext has now taken on concrete form. The Bavarians' new large SUV is called the BMW iX and will hit the road around the end of 2021.

At the center of the front of the vehicle is the mighty, fully enclosed BMW double kidney, which is already familiar in a similar form from the 3 and 4 Series models. In the iX, it takes on the function of an "intelligence surface" with camera, radar and other sensors.

In length and width, the iX corresponds to the X5, in height to the X6 and in wheels to the X7.

Lounge atmosphere and a lot of space
Generous space, new seats with integrated headrests and an oversized panoramic glass roof create a luxurious lounge atmosphere in the interior of the five-seater.

Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG: "The BMW Group is constantly striving to reinvent itself. The iX expresses this approach in a particularly concentrated form."

A vision becomes reality as the BMW Vision iNEXT becomes the BMW iX.

Tempo 100 km/h in under five seconds
The iX is the first model based on the Munich-based company's scalable electric modular system. Designed from the outset for pure electric drive, the model is intended to create a new kind of driving experience.

The maximum drive power should be more than 370 kW (500 hp), accelerating the newcomer from 0 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds. And because the power consumption in the WLTP test should not exceed 21 kWh per 100 kilometers, a range of more than 600 kilometers can be expected.

Power for 120 kilometers in ten minutes
DC fast charging can be carried out at a power of up to 200 kW, allowing the power battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 40 minutes. In addition, energy for a further 120 kilometers can be recharged in ten minutes.

Prices for the new e-model have not yet been set.
