BMW: The next electric vehicles are at the start
IT'S GOING ON BMW's X1 and X2 come with sustainable plug-in hybrid technology. As x-Drive25e, they have an electric range of 57 kilometers. Consumption ranges from 1.9 to 2.1 liters. The plug-in hybrid system is composed of a 1.5-liter three-cylinder twin-turbo technology and a model-specific electric drive.
The combustion engine develops 125 hp (92 kW) and a maximum torque of 220 Newton meters. It transmits its power to the front wheels via a six-speed Steptronic transmission.
The electric motor produces 70 kW (95 hp) and drives the rear axle with a torque of 165 Nm via a single-speed transmission. This adds up to a system output of 220 hp (162 kW) and 385 Nm.
This ensures acceleration figures for the sprint to 100 km/h of under seven seconds and top speeds of around 195 km/h. Up to 135 km/h are possible in E-mode.
Charging at the household socket
With the charging cable, the high-voltage battery can be charged to 100 percent in around five hours when fully discharged at a conventional household outlet.
After just 3.8 hours, the battery is charged to 80 percent of its total capacity. At a BMW i Wallbox, the high-voltage battery can be charged from zero to 100 percent in 3.2 hours and from zero to 80 percent of its total capacity in 2.4 hours.
