7-speed Steptronic transmission as option
Exclusive materials and new seat covers in fabric Sensatec and leather enhance the interior. There is also a new electronic gear selector for the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch, available for the first time, and the 8-speed Steptronic transmissions. All diesels use diesel particulate filters, NOx storage catalytic converters and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that reduces nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas by injecting urea (AdBlue) for exhaust gas treatment starting in March. All four-cylinder diesels are also now equipped with two turbochargers.
Striking modifications to the engines
Extensive modifications have been made to the current generation of gasoline and diesel engines to increase efficiency, for example in the crankshaft, thermal management, valve train and turbocharging. Power output ranges from 116 hp to 231 hp in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and from 109 hp to 192 hp in the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer. Swiss prices have not yet been set.
