AND IT'S GOING ON The four rings are launching their third SUV coupe, the Q5 Sportback. The Chinese were the first to see the new model. The three-liter diesel engine of the Audi SQ5 Sportback TDI puts 341 hp and 700 Nm of torque on the road.

In the past, the so-called sporty commercial vehicles or SUVs were mainly edgy and rolled onto the market according to the motto practical, angular, high.

The latest addition to this segment is the Audi Q5 Sportback, with which the Ingolstadt brand is rolling out its third crossover utility vehicle (CUV) after the e-tron Sportback and the Q3 Sportback. The model has already been unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show.

Sportback
The Q5 Sportback starts at 61,250 francs and the SQ5 Sportback TDI is available from 88,700 francs.

Octagonal single-frame grille dominates the front end
The long-wheelbase version, which is popular with Chinese businessmen, was on display. The standard wheelbase of 2.82 meters is already generous and promises pleasant space.

The front end is dominated by an octagonal single-frame grille and the highly visible cooling vents. At the sporty back, customers can choose from three different taillight variants (at extra cost). This is made possible by the digital Oled technology. In addition, the Oled segments warn vehicles approaching within two meters of the stationary Q5 Sportback.

Targeted lighting effects with the Ambience package
With a Cw value of 0.30, the Q5 Sportback achieves a value that until a few years ago was reserved exclusively for sedans or coupés, and with a length of 4.69 meters the sporty back is only seven millimeters longer than the Q5.

In the interior, the Audi creative team continues the light show when the ambient light package plus is selected. The interior then shines with targeted lighting effects.

The rear bench plus can be moved longitudinally (as an option), and the angle of the backrest can also be individually adjusted. If the rear seat is pushed forward, the luggage compartment increases by 60 liters to a maximum of 570 liters (1480 liters with the rear seat folded down).

Optional air suspension for more ground clearance
Although the sporty SUV coupés will probably never be put to the test off the road, the Q5 Sportback comes with an optional air suspension system that can increase ground clearance by 4.5 centimeters just in case. When driving fast, the chassis lowers by 1.5 centimeters to reduce drag.

To make loading easier, the rear axle can also be lowered by 5.5 centimeters. The model comes to customers with a sports suspension as standard, which Audi promises will provide "a more direct road contact than the steel spring suspension of the Q5" thanks to a more tightly tuned suspension and damping.

Two diesels and one gasoline engine on offer at launch
The Audi Q5 Sportback will be launched in Switzerland with three engines - two TDI and one TFSI, which produce between 204 and 286 hp. All engines are below the limits of the new Euro 6d emissions standard, which severely limits nitrogen oxide emissions in road tests in particular. A seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission is used for power transmission.

The drive has a mild hybrid system that stores the energy generated during deceleration in a lithium-ion battery. In addition, the belt starter generator contributes to the braking power.

In the exhaust technology of the TDIs, the urea solution AdBlue is introduced into the exhaust tract upstream of two SCR catalytic converters arranged one after the other. This SDytem is effective.

Zero to 100 in 5.1 seconds and 250 km/h top speed
top speed (electronically limited). At the top of the model range is the Audi SQ5 Sportback TDI. Its three-liter diesel engine produces 341 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

An actuator in the exhaust system adds sound and richness. Performance: zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, 250 km/h top speed (electronically limited).

Top equipment with the virtual cockpit plus
The controls, displays and infotainment have been taken over from the current Q5. The virtual Audi Cockpit plus is on board in the top trim.

To reduce distraction from traffic, the most important functions can be operated from the multifunction steering wheel. Voice control is activated with the sporty prompt "Hey Audi".
