Audi is expanding its model range with a compact SUV in coupe form - the Audi Q3 Sportback.
Many fans of the brand are repeat offenders, and they remain loyal to the models with the four rings. One of the reasons for the desire to buy is certainly that the Ingolstadt company also keeps the familiar in mind, despite many innovations inside and out.
Strong athletic appearance
The low roofline of the new Q3 is striking, merging into the flat-sloping D-pillar and ending in a roof-edge spoiler, a bit like in the days of the racy hatchback variants. The Sportback looks significantly longer than its predecessor, the Q3, but has actually only grown by just 16 millimeters. Just under three centimeters less roof height makes the new SUV coupe look flatter and thus much more muscular.
With the trapezoidal air intakes, the expressive bumper and the black grille of the octagonal single frame, the crossover has a strongly sporty appearance. With the new Tausilber color, Audi provides a paint finish that makes the Q3 Sportback shine even brighter on the roads.
Three different drives to choose from
Initially, there will be a choice of two gasoline engines and one diesel unit in Switzerland. The 1.5 TFSI in the Q3 Sportback 35 TFSI produces 150 hp. It uses Cylinder on demand technology, which deactivates two cylinders at low and medium loads.
The four-cylinder gasoline engine will follow later, also with S tronic and 48-volt mild hybrid system. In real-world driving, this variant can save up to 0.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers driven.
In a third step, the range will be expanded to include a 45 TFSI quattro, which will be offered with the most powerful engine 2.0 TSFI with 230 hp and S tronic. The 2.0 TDI Q3 Sportback 35 TDI - also with S tronic - puts 150 hp on the road and will also be available manually shifted with quattro drive. A few weeks after market launch, the 2.0 TDI with 190 hp will be available, which comes close to the driving experience of the 45 TFSI quattro in sporty terms.
Easy handling and a lot of comfort
AutoSprintCH has already tried out the available engine variants, and they all guarantee pure driving pleasure. The interior is completely designed for the comfort of driver and passengers. The Q3 Sportback offers the highest level of seating comfort and a pleasant chassis throughout all three models, which also easily copes with bumps.
But the many standard functions such as lane departure and lane change warning, which are set ultra gently, also make driving over longer distances easier. The diagonal 10.25-inch display in the center console (optionally available in 12.3 inches) is oriented at 10 degrees to the driver, which thus simplifies operation at all times.
However, in my opinion, it is enough for the driver to operate the many buttons on the steering wheel as well as the information on the clearly designed display in the dashboard.
Market launch from mid-October
The Q3 Sportback is already available to order and will be at dealerships from mid-October 2019. The 2.0 TDI starts at 46 650, the 2.0 TFSI at 55 250 and the 2.0 TDI with 190 hp at 51 650 francs.
