Audi: The Q3 becomes an everyday all-rounder
THE NEW SIZE The Audi Q3 is considered a gray mouse in its segment. Its shape is too round and soft for a real off-roader and it lacks the space and variability to be a family vehicle. But that will all change from November. Having grown significantly in all dimensions, the second generation has mutated into an all-rounder suitable for everyday use with a confident look and a spaciousness befitting its status. The new size is particularly striking. At 4.49 meters, it is now almost ten centimeters longer than its predecessor and has therefore almost outgrown the compact segment. This creates noticeably more space for knees, head and elbows. Depending on the position of the rear bench and backrests, the trunk can hold between 530 and 675 liters. That's up to 215 liters more than before.
Off-the-shelf infotainment and operating systems
The interior has been more or less adapted from the brand's new luxury models, with a two-stage instrument panel that is slightly inclined towards the driver. Its upper part integrates the air vents, the lower part the large, octagonal surface in black panel look, framed by a wide chrome strip. The infotainment and operating systems also come from the Audi range. The MMI radio with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster comes as standard. The driving assistants are also up to date.
Diesel and petrol engines deliver up to 230 hp as required
Audi will be supplying the new Q3 with four engines at the start of sales in the fall, three petrol and one diesel in combination with front-wheel or quattro drive. Their power output ranges from 150 hp to 230 hp. All engines are four-cylinder direct injection engines with turbocharging. Power transmission is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox or an S tronic with seven gears. The permanent all-wheel drive takes care of off-road driving. Swiss prices and equipment have not yet been determined.
