Audi: This is the new flagship Q8
FULL PACKAGE It was an open secret that Audi would crown its Q line with a large coupe. Now it's official: Audi is unveiling the Q8. In China, of course. At 499 centimeters long, two meters wide and 171 centimeters high, it's almost as long and tall as the Q7 - and even a bit wider. [...]
At 499 centimeters long, two meters wide and 171 centimeters high, it is almost as long and high as the Q7 - and even slightly wider. Yet the Q8 is only designed for two rows of seats. This gave its designers plenty of freedom to create an impressive shape.
New interpretation of the Audi-typical radiator grille
And they have succeeded: The Q8 looks well-proportioned from every perspective; the front end delivers a new interpretation of the Audi-typical radiator grille, and the rear profiles itself with a futuristic strip of lights. There are wheel sizes up to 22 inches, and when the suspension is raised, the ground clearance is 25.4 centimeters.
V8 engines as diesel and gasoline come later
Propulsion is provided by a range of V6 TDI and TFSI engines, which in principle feature 48-volt hybridization. It is virtually certain that there will be V8 engines at a later date, both as diesel and gasoline engines. And there could also be a plug-in hybrid variant.
All available assistance systems from the modular system
It goes without saying that the Q8 uses all the assistance, telematics and connectivity functions available in the modular system. Up to five radar and twelve ultrasonic sensors, six cameras and a laser scanner ensure that the technology can issue targeted warnings and intervene if the driver is not performing his or her duties one hundred percent. The Audi Q8 will launch on the Swiss market in the third quarter of 2018. Prices have not yet been set.
