The special model of the Giulia sedan, limited to 500 units, is only available as a two-seater.
The GTAm is based on the Quadrifoglio. The output of the 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine has been increased by 30 hp to 540 hp. The GTAm accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Reduction of the vehicle weight
The extended use of high-tech materials reduces the vehicle weight by 100 kilograms. This improves the power-to-weight ratio to 2.82 kilograms per horsepower. This is matched by bucket seats, roll bars and six-point seat belts. Reservations are now possible.
Leaning on the Formula 1
The aerodynamic components were revised to increase the downforce generated by the airstream. The engineers drew on Formula 1 expertise in designing the side skirts, carbon rear spoiler and active front splitter.

Exhaust system from Akrapovic
Also new are the titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic with tailpipes integrated into the rear carbon fiber diffuser and the 20-inch alloy wheels with center lock, used for the first time on a sedan. The engineers optimized handling by widening the track by 50 millimeters at the front and rear axles and by retuning the springs, shock absorbers and suspension mounts.
Loops replaced door handles
The interior of the GTAm received an Alcantara trim for the dashboard, doors, glove compartment, roof pillars and center seats. The rear seat is replaced by a storage area, which has recesses for storing helmets and fire extinguishers, as well as carbon fiber inserts. A racing-style loop replaces the conventional door handles.

Use in touring car sport
The three letters GTA stand for the Italian term "Gran Turismo Alleggerita" and denote a fast touring car (Gran Turismo) in lightweight construction (Alleggerita). Alfa Romeo first used this abbreviation on the Giulia Sprint GTA, which was presented at the 1965 Amsterdam Motor Show. The engineers of Alfa Romeo's racing department Autodelta had revised the production model Giulia Sprint GT to obtain a homologation model for use in touring car races.
Racing version at that time with 170 hp
To this end, they replaced the conventional sheet steel with aluminum as the material for the outer body. This and other lightweight modifications reduced the curb weight of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA from 950 to around 745 kilograms compared with the high-volume model.
Next, the technicians tackled the 1.6-liter engine. For example, by using dual ignition - with two spark plugs per cylinder instead of one - Autodelta increased the output for the road version to 115 hp. For the racing versions, 170 hp was achieved.
Prices and market launch of the Alfa Romeo GTAm for Switzerland have not yet been determined.
