Like Yves Meyer and Joshua Reynolds, Nicolas Maunoir is one of the best drifters in Switzerland - but the 30-year-old from Geneva hasn't been in the limelight for a long time. Three years ago, he was third overall in the Drift Kings of Europe Series, which Meyer only entered in 2018 and has yet to achieve such success.
Training under race conditions
After an elaborate rebuild of his good 850 hp Nissan Silvia S15, Maunoir 2020 joins The Drift Force from Seelisberg. The Frenchman accompanied the two drivers from central Switzerland to the second round of the Drift.de Series in Hockenheim, but did not survive the event without technical problems.
Joshua Reynolds already failed in the qualification, so that only Yves Meyer with his BMW E46 V8 used for training purposes held the flag high in the battles. He was only defeated in the final by Felix Berger, one of the best drifters in Germany.
Yves Meyer: "It was a really cool training event. A good test for our drifting skills and our cars. We would now be ready for the US season, which will hopefully start soon."
No sportsman visa for Meyer yet
According to the new schedule, Formula Drift is to begin in St. Louis from September 4 to September. However, it is uncertain whether Meyer will be able to participate with his BMW F22 Eurofighter, which has been stationed in the USA for a long time.
His application for an athlete's visa, which is necessary due to the Corona crisis, has been denied so far due to the high number of cases in the United States.
Because Joshua Reynolds has a US passport, things look a little better for him. At best, only Meyer business partner from Event Seelisberg would represent the Swiss Drift Team.
