WorldSSP: Krummenacher on podium at Aragon
The third race weekend of the Supersport World Championship took place at Motorland Aragon (Spain). Randy Krummenacher coped well with the 5.077 km circuit and was once again able to celebrate on the podium. Although the Swiss rider is a newcomer to the Supersport World Championship, he once again put in a strong race. Krummenacher qualified second for the race, behind team-mate Kenan [...]
Krummenacher qualified for the race in second place, behind team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu. This order did not change in the race: there was no way for the opponents to get past the strong Kawasaki duo, consisting of Sofuoglu at the front and Krummenacher directly behind. Although the gap between the Puccetti Racing riders was close over the entire distance, Krummenacher was also unable to find a way past Sofuoglu. "Especially in the early stages of a race, I still have a lot of work to do. Kenan still has the stronger pace in this phase. He simply knows better how to get more out of the fresh tires," explained Krummenacher.
Strong team performance
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old was delighted with the great result: "I'm very happy with this second place, I'm absolutely delighted. And not just for me, but also for the whole team." The Zurich-born rider also extended his lead in the world championship standings with second place: Krummenacher leads Sofuoglu by 13 points and Jules Cluzel by 20 points.
Krummenacher also noted that he had "improved a lot compared to Australia and Thailand. That is very important for me. But we mustn't sit back under any circumstances, we have to keep working hard," he warned.
In just two weeks, at the next WorldSSP round in Assen in the Netherlands, Krummenacher will be able to attack again. But until then, "I'm enjoying the success of the strong Aragon weekend," he said.
