Wohlen: Suspense until the end
SM-TITLE AWARD On Saturday, the autobau Swiss Kart Championship ended in Wohlen with a picture-perfect finale: glorious autumn weather, exciting races and finally spectators on site again. The starting position in the OK Junior category was particularly exciting. There, the two title aspirants Elia Pappacena and Jérôme Huber went into the last three races tied on points.
While Huber was mostly unlucky, Pappacena didn't let himself get rattled and celebrated (ahead of Ekaterina Lüscher) his fifth victory in total this season in the final run.
Behind the new OC Junior Champion and Huber, who had his worst weekend in Wohlen of all places, Ethan Ischer finished third. The Vaudois almost caught up with Huber in the overall ranking. With 227:226, Huber nevertheless secured the runner-up title as a tiny consolation.
Näscher makes it exciting
Patrick Näscher is actually regarded as reliability personified. But in the first preliminary run of the OK Senior category, the Liechtensteiner overdid it. When attacking the leading Fabio Scherer, Näscher misjudged and not only ruined Scherer's race, but also his own.
His only remaining title rival Lyon Mathur, of all people, secured victory in the first and second heat, so that the decision had to be made in the final. After just a few laps, a collision took Mathur out of the race.
After the restart, Scherer took command and won superiorly ahead of Näscher, who thus secured the senior title for the second time after 2018. Behind Näscher and Mathur, Lukas Muth finished third overall.
Short process by Tiziano Kuzhnini and Savio Moccia
In the youngest Super Mini category, Tiziano Kuzhnini was already the new champion after the first race with his tenth race win in 2021.
In the second and third rounds, the new champion settled for the place of honor behind Elia Epifanio, who was the most successful rider in the last two events. Third place overall went to Dan Allemann, who managed to beat Janik Brechbühl.
In the X30 Challenge Switzerland, Savio Moccia captured the title for the third time in a row. In Wohlen, the now five-time Swiss champion made a big splash with pole position and three race wins.
With twelve first places in 15 races, the athlete from Lyss clearly stood out from the competition. Kilian Streit secured second place and Nicolas Mühlebach third.
Confirmation for Master Rohrbasser
Veteran Nicolas Rohrbasser had already secured his third title in the KZ2 category of switch karts in Levier. Nevertheless, he also pushed hard in the only race on Swiss soil.
With a perfect race weekend (three wins, pole position and fastest race lap) he increased his already comfortable lead over second-placed Ivan Rechsteiner in the final standings to 128 points.
Sebastian Kraft, who only switched to switch karts this season and was still racing in the Super Minis three years ago, kept putting Rohrbasser under pressure in Wohlen. With three second places at the end of the season, the man from Berne was also very satisfied. Kraft finished fourth overall, just behind Tobias Widmer.
