Whitsun: Herbert Müller Memorial Day

MEETING POINT FORELLENSEE There will be no race in Switzerland on the Whitsun weekend. Instead, Daniel Müller invites in memory of his father Herbert Müller, who died in 1981, to the racing driver and classic car meeting at the Forellensee in Zweisimmen. Herbert Müller was one of the most successful racing drivers of the 60s and 70s. On May 24, 1981, he had an accident on the occasion of the 1000 km race Nürburgring [...]

Herbert Müller was one of the most successful racing drivers of the 1960s and 1970s. On May 24, 1981, he was killed in an accident on the Nordschleife during the Nürburgring 1000 km race. His son Daniel preserves his memory with the Herbert Müller Memorial Day.

Therefore, on the anniversary of his death, as in previous years, a meeting for like-minded people will take place on Whit Sunday. Daniel Müller, son of "Stumpen-Herbie", as he was called by friends and fans, is the owner of the idyllic location Forellensee in Gstaad-Zweisimmen, where the event will take place.

This will include a meeting of current and former racers, a small race car exhibition, a Porsche meeting and a rally outing. There will also be a public party.

Daniel Müller: "So far, we have always run this day on the back burner. Herbert deserves that we now make it really big. It was a pleasure for me as a son to know him better. The memories of him still accompany me every day."

Original Porsche 934 from Le Mans
The showpiece of the small exhibition is the Porsche 934 in which the Swiss trio Herbert Müller, Angelo Pallavicini and Marco Vanoli drove to fourth place overall in the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is probably the most original Porsche 934 in the world and is still in first-hand possession.

A Porsche 935 and a Carrera 6 will also be on display. Herbert Müller scored his first really big victory with the 906 in 1966: together with Willy Mairesse, he won the legendary Targa Florio.

The 935 from the legendary Group 5 is now owned by Christian Traber in Toffen, the 906 by a privateer from Gstaad.

Herbert Müller Memorial Rally
In 1964, still at the very beginning of his career, Herbert Müller took part in the world-famous Monte Carlo Rally. His co-driver was Hermann Müller, then owner of the Forellensee Garage Zweisimmen, which is located right next to today's Forellensee Gstaad-Zweisimmen.

The Herbert Müller Memorial Rally is open to all Porsche and classic cars. The varied and idyllic route leads over four passes and 120 km, peppered with fantastic views over the Gstaad countryside.

In between there will be various tastings of local products, a tour of the Porsche garage Pichler in Gstaad-Feutersoey with an aperitif and in the evening a cultivated trout lake dinner among friends.
