Weekend tip: Three series in a double pack 🎥

THE German GT Championship starts twice at Zandvoort this weekend with strong Swiss participation. Double action is also on offer at Formula E in New York and the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. And then there's the Goodwood Festival of Speed again. For the first time, the ADAC GT Masters will be starting on the modified version of the circuit [...]

Four weeks after the GT World Challenge Europe, then with Ricardo Feller as pole setter in the Lamborghini #14, the GT3 teams start at Zandvoort for the German championship round.

For the first time, the ADAC GT Masters will start on the modified version of the circuit in the Dutch North Sea dunes. The two new steep corners, the Hugenholtzbocht behind the paddock and the Arie Luyendykbocht leading onto the start and finish, are spectacular. Both provide more overtaking opportunities and action.

Ricardo Feller's return to Zandvoort
Ricardo Feller is very familiar with the Zandvoort circuit. The 21-year-old from Aargau shone in qualifying for the GT World Challenge on June 19/20 at the wheel of Emil Frey Racing's Lamborghini Huracán with the absolute best time of the weekend. A heat win and second place overall in the two sprint races, together with Alex Fontana, underlined his strength on the future GP circuit.

In the German GT Championship, Feller sits in an Audi R8 LMS from Land Motorsport and hopes for an equally good weekend with partner Christopher Mies. The same goes for Jeffrey Schmidt after his victory with Callaway Corvette last time out at the Red Bull Ring.

The two races will be broadcast live on Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. on free TV by TV partner NITRO. In the livestream they are available on adac.de/motorsport and with TVNOW.com to watch. Germany's leading streaming platform also shows all races of the ADAC GT4 Germany, the ADAC TCR Germany and the ADAC Formula 4 in a free stream.

VLN makes a virtue of necessity
Last year, two VLN races on a weekend in July, which are part of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NKS), were practically due to the scheduling difficulties caused by the pandemic. Because this worked well and met with a positive response from participants, a double-header of four hours each will again be held on Saturday/Sunday, July 10/11.

Patric Niederhauser is on the start list for Saturday's race. However, the unofficial new lap record holder on the Nordschleife since the last race gives preference to the GT Masters in Zandvoort. The Swiss spearheads are therefore the German Manuel Netzger, who is based in Thurgau and competes with an ASS license, in a Mercedes-AMG GT3, and Frédéric Yerly from Fribourg, who has already won several times in a VW Golf GTI TCR.

As usual, the elaborately produced livestream can be viewed on a TV set or laptop. VLN.com, on YouTube (Race 1 / Race 2), Facebook and Twitch.tv track. Both days will start at 8.30 a.m., the race starts should be at 12 noon.

A Geneva native as Formula E world championship leader
As with all the remaining Formula E race weekends in London and Berlin, two World Championship rounds will be held in the USA this weekend. For the fourth time, the venue will be the Red Hook neighborhood in New York's Brooklyn borough, overlooking Manhattan.

After his third place in the first and the overwhelming triumph in the second race in Puebla/MEX, Edoardo Mortara from Geneva leads the world championship standings with the Venturi Mercedes after nine rounds. Because he consequently has to chase times in the first practice group and will be at a disadvantage on the green track, defending the championship lead will be a difficult task.

Although there are still six races to go, Sébastien Buemi can only dream of the world championship title at the moment. He has only eleven points on his tally, compared to Mortara's 72. His wish is to finally realize the potential of the Nissan that he and his teammate Oliver Rowland have often shown in a race.

Early departure without Nico Müller
Nico Müller is no longer part of the team. The driver from Berne is vacating his place at Dragon/Penske to concentrate fully on the DTM in Audi Team Rosberg.

Start time is at 4:30 p.m. local time (10:30 p.m. CEST) on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. CEST) on Sunday. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, SAT.1 is broadcasting live from the USA and is already showing all free practice sessions and qualifying live on ran.de. In addition, the live broadcasts of all sessions on MySports One are aimed specifically at Swiss viewers.

After two years, the FIA Formula E - now with a World Championship predicate - returns to New York.

Action at Goodwood again for the first time
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is not an actual race, but a unique event. After a year's forced break, it is back this weekend with three full days of action from Friday to Sunday. The FoS sees itself as a lively cross-section of the history of motor racing.

What is on offer at Goodwood can be seen in this direct Link to the livestream from Goodwood, which starts on Thursday - we wish you the best entertainment in advance!
