Once a year, the idyllic farming village is bursting at the seams. As beautiful summer weather is on the cards, well over 10,000 spectators will make the pilgrimage to the Suhrental to attend the biggest motorsport event in the Swiss Mittelland.
Mutual proximity
For the 53rd time since 1965, the ACS is organizing the national hill climb with international participation. Although the race course above the village is only around 1600 m long, it is one of the most popular with the athletes. This is because nowhere else are they closer to the enthusiastic spectators. And they are treated to a day-long mix of racing and show.
Thomas Kohler, Vice Director and Managing Director of ACS Mitte, is just as concerned about entertaining the spectators as he is about ensuring that the race runs smoothly so that the riders get their money's worth.
Starting at 7 a.m., two practice sessions and two races are scheduled for each of the five fields with a total of around 220 participants. We have already covered the highlights of this year's starting field in the first preview on Tuesday.
Speeding school bus
The show program with all kinds of more or less curious vehicles only lasts a few minutes, but always remains in the memory of the spectators.
For example, the drifting performances of the participants from the Seelisberg Event Center, who this year will be racing a BMW HGK F22 Eurofighter with around 850 hp from the hellish-sounding V8 engine.
There will also be a world premiere: Egon Allgäuer, who has been coming to Reitnau for years with his Villiger Race Truck, is now bringing a school bus from the USA that has been converted into a racing vehicle to the start - a spectacle is guaranteed!
There are plenty of signposted parking spaces available in Reitnau Unterdorf, Attelwil and Wiliberg (CHF 5.-). The entrance fee is CHF 19 for adults and CHF 10 for young people aged 6 to 15.
