The teaser for the WEC in Portimão. Of all people, "cover boy" Filipe Albuquerque will not be on the grid at his home race.

The second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season at Portimão on Sunday will also be the 100th race of this kind for Toyota. The Japanese automaker celebrated its debut at the 1000-kilometer race at Fuji in October 1983.

With a Toyota 83C from the legendary Group C, ninth place was the result. Meanwhile, the Japanese are multiple world champions and Le Mans winners.

Toyota celebrates itself in Portugal. For the 100th world championship round, the Japanese naturally want another victory with the new GR010 hypercar.

Now comes Glickenhaus
Following the historic first hypercar victory at Spa-Francorchamps on May 1, the defending champions will have new competition from Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, which, like Alpine, will enter a car in the LMH prototype class.

After their victory in Belgium, Sébastien Buemi from Vaud, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley lead the drivers' standings with 25 points ahead of the Alpine trio Lapierre/Negrão/Vaxivière (18) and the second Toyota pairing Convay/Lopez/Kobayashi (15).

As part of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the SCG 007 hypercar from Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus completed a demo lap. After a long period of preparation, things get serious this weekend.

Scherer against Delétraz
Equally interesting from a Swiss perspective is the clash of the WEC and ELMS standings leaders in the LMP2 class. Fabio Scherer won outright at Spa with United Autosports, as did Louis Delétraz with WRT in the European Le Mans Series.

However, after two direct hits, the Geneva-based team had to settle for fifth place last Sunday at Paul Ricard. At the WRC round in Portugal, Delétraz is driving for the first time for the Inter Europol Competition team from Poland, which is managed by German Sascha Fassbender.

There is a driver change in the Scherer team. LMP2 world champion Filipe Albuquerque, of all people, has to miss his WEC home race because his commitment to the IMSA in the USA has priority. An adequate replacement is ex-GP driver and DTM champion Paul di Resta, third driver as before Phil Hanson (GB).

Louis Delétraz will be driving in the green-yellow colors of the team from Poland for the first time in Portugal.

Livestream or partial broadcast
Also leading the standings in the LM GTE-Pro class is Neel Jani, together with Kevin Estre, in one of the two factory 911 RSRs fielded by Porsche GT Motorsport. His French partner impressed last weekend with his winning performance at the Nürburgring 24 Hours with Manthey Porsche.

The eight-hour race will be broadcast for the most part on the pay-TV channel Sport1+ from 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 13. Free TV station Sport1 will broadcast the final stage live from 5 to 8:15 p.m., and the second race of the season can also be viewed in full on the free internet livestream on SPORT1.de to track.

GT teams take the bull by the horns
The German GT Championship aka ADAC GT Masters will compete on Saturday and Sunday at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (A) for rounds 3 and 4. Thanks to the hygiene and infection control concept drawn up by the operators together with the ADAC, up to 3,000 fans per day are allowed to be present at the track.

Of the Swiss, Raffaele Marciello from Ticino, who starts for Italy, as the winner of the first race at Oschersleben, and Ricardo Feller in third place each already have a podium and good points to their name.

Jeffrey Schmidt can be confident, as the current Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R has already been good for first place five times on this GP circuit, and the previous C6.R model four times.

The four drivers from the two GT3 teams supported by Mann-Filter, including Raffaele Marciello, look ahead to the event at the Red Bull Ring.

Live on Nitro and on the Internet
Starting at 1 p.m. each day, the free TV station Nitro will broadcast both GT races on the GP circuit in Styria on Saturday and Sunday. They will be livestreamed online at TVNOW.com and on adac.de/motorsport will be shown. The live broadcasts of the two qualifying sessions will also be available there.

Germany's leading streaming platform TVNOW also shows all races of the ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and ADAC Formula 4 in a free stream.

In addition, the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is already holding races 5 and 6 of the season in Austria. Fach Auto Tech as team and Antonio Teixeira as well as Ruedi Rhyn as drivers represent the Swiss colors.

Both races are shown live on Saturday (from 3 p.m.) and Sunday (from 3.05 p.m.) on Sport1 and on the internet on the YouTube channel of the one-make cup.

As last year, a limited number of spectators will be allowed in the grandstands at the Red Bull Ring (Photo: Gruppe C Photography).
