The teaser for the re-start of the WEC. In spring 2019, driving snow impaired the racing action.
The last race in February in Austin/Texas ended with Rebellion triumphing ahead of Toyota's two works cars. The follow-up race at Sebring, scheduled for March, was canceled. As a replacement date, the season will now be concluded on November 21 in Bahrain.
Dress rehearsal for Le Mans
In between, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place - as reported as a ghost race without an audience, which will also be ruled out at Spa.
As a dress rehearsal for the classic race, which has been postponed from mid-June to September 19/20, the Toyota TS050 Hybrid and probably other race sports cars are running with aerodynamic configurations for low downforce and more top speed.
However, this is unlikely to make much difference to the balance of power at the top. Perhaps Toyota Gazoo Racing will be able to compensate for the technical handicap vis-Ã -vis Rebellion's private team in this way.

Toyota leads the championship
Toyota has won its home race in the Ardennes - the Belgian circuit is just a few kilometers from the Cologne motorsport headquarters - in each of the last three years. With a return to the podium, Toyota Gazoo Racing would further extend its 33-point lead over Rebellion.
In the drivers' standings, the two Toyota teams are engaged in a close duel. Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José MarÃa López in car number #7 are just five points ahead of their teammates Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley in #8.
In preparation for the relaunch, the team was involved in e-motorsport, and a three-day test was also held at Circuit Paul Ricard in July.

Live on TV
The race will start at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. The free TV channel Eurosport 1 will broadcast live from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. and the final phase from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Sport1 will also be live for two hours from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The pay station Sport1+ will broadcast the entire endurance race live.
