From the 28 candidates who overcame the first qualification hurdle in January, 18 finalists will be chosen. After the elimination of the two Swiss women Marylin Niederhauser and Sharon Scolari, Fabienne Wohlwend from Ländle is the only representative from our language region.
First test drives in the operational car
Next Sunday, the four-day test runs will begin at the Spanish circuit of Almeria. The fast ladies from 16 nations will make their first acquaintance with the Tatuus T-318.
The Formula 3 race cars with turbo engines will be painted in five different two-tone colors. The names and national flags of the female racers will be prominently displayed on them, along with their starting numbers, which they will be able to choose themselves once the final starting grid has been announced.
Wait until March 28
The list of selected drivers, who will compete for a total of 1.5 million dollars in prize money, half a million for the champion alone, will be published on March 28. The race premiere will take place on the weekend of May 5 as part of the DTM in Hockenheim.
The Liechtensteiner flies optimistically to Spain.
Fabienne Wohlwend: "I prepared intensively for this elimination over the winter. In addition to daily fitness sessions and simulator rides, I also completed two test days in Monza and Mugello in a Formula 3 car. I feel ready for this challenge."
Back to the Ferrari Challenge
She will then travel directly to Valencia, where the first European race weekend for the 2019 Ferrari Challenge is scheduled. The 2018 runner-up in the Pro-Am class and subsequent winner of the Ferrari World Finals in Monza will again compete for Octane126 from Zurich.
Based on her successes, the 21-year-old is now transitioning to the top Pro category, but is confident...
Fabienne Wohlwend: "I'm convinced that I have what it takes to be one of the front runners there, too. The goal for the season is certainly one or the other podium."
