Sales: These are the top 20 in Switzerland
YEAR OF THE TWO-WHEEL The economically tough 2020 is developing extremely well in terms of motorcycle sales. If things continue as before, the previous record year of 2015 will be surpassed as early as the end of October. Who are the winners? More than 20 percent more motorcycles were sold by the end of September 2020 compared to the previous year. The biggest winner among manufacturers is Kawasaki. [...]
More than 20 percent more motorcycles were sold by the end of September 2020 compared with the previous year. The biggest winner among the manufacturers is Kawasaki. By the end of September, the Greens had increased sales by a staggering 71 percent. This means that the Japanese are pushing BMW into third place.
At the top of the list, however, is still Yamaha, which with a total of 4885 motorcycles sold was able to increase its share by almost 28 percent. BMW, on the other hand, is in third place with 3263 motorcycles sold, a drop of 1.12 percent. The figures relate only to motorcycles, i.e. without scooters.
In fourth place is Honda with an increase of 4.74 percent, ahead of KTM; this brand was able to record a remarkable 30.3 percent. Triumph (+25.24), Harley-Davidson (-5.87), Ducati (+10.54), Suzuki (+15.34) and Indian (+24.62) complete the top 10.
At the top of the middle class is Yamaha
At the top of the best-selling models is an old acquaintance: A whopping 1271 Yamaha MT-07s have been newly redeemed so far. Second and third place go to the Kawasaki Z650 (1197) and its big sister Z900 (1049).
The BMW R 1250 GS (721) is the first big bike in fourth place. As is often the case, the standard GS and the R 1250 GS Adventure are listed as individual models. The Adventure is in eleventh place with 331 units; if both were counted as one model, it would just about make it onto the podium.

Another exciting aspect of the top 10 is that the GS is the only bike with a displacement of more than 1000 cubic centimeters in the top ten.
In the top 20 most popular bikes, only the Adventure and the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S (ranked 16th, 270) are added to this category. All the other bikes in the top 20 have a displacement of less than 1000 cubic centimeters.

Primavera 125 3V is the front runner
Further interesting is that if we look not only at the motorcycles, but also include the scooters in the statistics, the Vespa Primavera 125 3V takes the absolute top spot with 1767 units sold.
And its big sister, the Vespa GTS 300 Super, is also likely to place right behind the MT-07 on the combined podium with 1194 units.
