Ural: All-electric drive team
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE Russian motorcycle manufacturer Ural will unveil the first version of a planned electric-powered sidecar at the "Progressive Motorcycle Show" (November 16-18, 2018). Ural uses the drive system of the Californian electric motorcycle pioneer Zero Motorcycles and plants a 45 kW (60 hp) drive system from there in its nostalgic team.
Top speed 140 km/h and 373 kilos in weight
A range of up to 165 kilometers is promised. To conserve the battery, a maximum cruising speed of 105 km/h is recommended. That corresponds to the top speed of the current version with 750-cubic two-cylinder. Tests have shown a possible top speed of 140 km/h for the 373-kilogram electric tricycle.
First test drives already in Long Beach
At the presentation in Long Beach, Ural also wants to enable test rides to obtain initial feedback that will then flow into the continuation of the project. The manufacturer from Irbit, which was taken over 18 years ago by three Russian-born entrepreneurs living in the U.S., would skip several development steps in its rather antiquated model range with the electric motorcycle.
It is not yet clear whether Swiss bike fans will also be able to experience the environmentally friendly team.
