The sports car based on the Toyota GR Supra was put through its paces at Circuit Paul Ricard in southern France. Officials from the Stéphane Ratel Organization (SRO), which holds all the rights of GT3 and GT4 regulations, checked in particular the performance record applicable to GT4, which ensures a level playing field for all cars in this class.
Extensive development work
The successful homologation of the GR Supra GT4 developed by Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) is the culmination of a comprehensive testing and development program: Since the beginning of 2019, the race car has completed more than 12,000 kilometers on various race tracks throughout Europe. Experienced test driver Stéphane Ortelli and colleagues from various fields have tuned and optimized the vehicle with the aim of appealing to drivers of all levels.
Two cars in Germany
The GT4 homologation also marks the start of delivery of the first GR Supra GT4s, which could be used immediately in various series in customer motorsport, but the Corona crisis is preventing this at the moment. Ring Racing, for example, has purchased two cars not far from the Nürburgring that will run in the ADAC GT4 Germany and the Nürburgring Endurance Series (formerly VLN).
On behalf of Novel Racing, Ring Racing will also enter a Supra GT4 in the Nürburgring 24-hour race, which has been postponed to September. Initial orders have also been received for entries in the UK and France.
